| Description |
The goal of Mornings in Motion is to incorporate high quality and structured physical activity into the school day. Pilot school Willow Brook Elementary partnered with a local fitness instructor to design a 30-minute morning routine, 2-5 times per week. The program takes place in the school gymnasium before the school day begins, so that no valuable instruction time is lost. During these morning routines, up to 300 children engage in constant motion through plyometrics, cardiovascular endurance, cross lateral movements, and dynamic stretching.
The pilot program targeted children attending Willow Brook Elementary in Oak Ridge, TN and has expanded to several school systems. The program is adaptable to any grade level. With Mornings in Motion, every child is moving and is able to be successful, regardless of their personal fitness level or athletic ability. |
