Description Being Alive is a non-profit membership organization comprised of Los Angeles residents who are HIV positive and medically stable. The program offers a variety of services including support groups, social gatherings, and vocational services, and a wide variety of complementary health care services including reflexology, acupuncture, chiropractic, massage, hypnotherapy, Tai Chi and much more. Through a partnership with Yo San University, students of Traditional Chinese Medicine are able to complete part of their clinical training at Being Alive. This partnership provides greater access to complementary care for HIV positive people and provides valuable clinical experience for participating interns.
Goal / Mission Being Alive is a nonprofit membership organization created and operated by and for people living with HIV/AIDS that aims to build a healthier and more powerful community of HIV-positive people.
Results / Accomplishments Through the help of over 100 volunteers, Being Alive has been able to offer direct services to over 1,200 Los Angeles residents, and to reach an additional 12,000 people nationwide with community education.
